An insight

art and spirituality, spiritual sayings, best spiritual blogs, spiritual messages, spiritual thought for the day, spiritual poetry, an insightI said - '...and do you remember, when you were 3 and living in Ethiopia, how did you bath?

We did not bath, she told me, playing with water, I don't remember ever having a shower - we didn't have one...'

Hearing these words, from the lips of my beautiful little girl, some statistics suddenly hit me:

  • 884 million people do not have an access to safe and clean water
  • 3.6 million people die every year from water-related diseases
  • 84% of deaths are in children

for Sinthayu

I stopped to ask you - your name
it wasn't written on your forehead
I stopped to enquire where you came from
even though I saw a tag on your bracelet
saying - Earth's womb
I was intreegued by your voice
and love that was pouring
from your eyes
I wanted you - before I knew you
we met in my dreams
many many years ago

Is she your mum?

She flirts with me all the time
with eyes that belong to an angel
I told her that her hands are beautiful
so she shows them to me graciously
every time she meets me
She points at me
showing me to her friends
and nods secretly confirming
answering the question - is she your mum?

And I asked about her
as soon as met her eyes
as soon as I fell in love
with her moments of joy
- you can not have her - the sister said
both her sister and her are positive.
Positive? I enquire, still not used to terminology
- yes, she said, HIV positive

Malta doesn't allow HIV adoptions...

like in Ethiopia

I've never seen so much poverty
so much elegance
so much beauty
such gracious walks
so many warm & responsive eyes
so many blind & deaf
so much dust
so many perfect hair-styles
such wonderful climate
so little bushes and trees
so many people walking
beside each other
hugging & holding hands
so many people dieing of AIDS
so many heads turning towards
the church - praying
whenever they pass one
so many perfectly white shirts
so few old people
so many people with crutches
so many hands greeting each other
such thin cats
and friendly babies
like in Ethiopia

Elsa

She dwells amongst other babies
as their guard, spirit & echo
mirroring energies that flow
her way
- shaking the earth
when she cries - screaming
with voices from Had
- spreading amazing peace
when asleep
A child from Hell
lost on her way to Heaven
A child of our
worst nightmares
A child whose pain we would
never be able to understand
A child in transition
passing through our worlds
reminding us of who we are
A child that embodies
every parent's single fear
and she is just three months old...
Her head is three times larger than normal
her limbs tiny, distorted & white
her skin stretched, her muscles weak
and perhaps is there
to protect some of the other little-ones
of evil eyes and human stupid thoughts
taking all of them on-to-herself

for Ethiopia

i went to the cradle of civilisation
to see the root of problems
of human selfishness and un-consciousness

i went to the bottom to understand the peak
facing death, starvation, disease
i was surrounded with kindness, love and peace

is this the rule?
