Icarus

It was
a long
long
fall

And yet
He made it
He saw the Queen
She was beautiful
She was serene
In-describable

Icarus, my son, he said
Keep at a moderate height,
If you fly too low - the damp will clog your wings,
If your flight is too high - the heat will melt them

And yet, did he know, wondered the youth falling
Did he know what hides above
Above the clouds, the light and heat– did he know?

As he neared the ocean,
He smiled and whispered
Dad don’t cry, if given this chance again
I would not - for anything in the world - have missed it!

Excelling all whose sweet delight disputes
In heavenly matters of theology;
Till swoll'n with cunning of a self-conceit,
His waxen wings did mount above his reach,
And melting heavens conspired his overthrow.

Fly on your way like an eagle
Fly as high as the sun
On your wings like an eagle
Fly and touch the sun
